United States Telemark Ski Association Announces 2010-2011 Team

The US Telemark Ski Association (USTSA) announced the 18 members of the US National Team for the 2010-2011 season.

The women’s “A” Team will be led by 18 year old Lorin Paley of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Lorin had a spectacular season last year with 4 podium finishes on the World Cup circuit. Lorin was accepted to Dartmouth to continue her education, but will be taking a one year deferral in order to train and race the World Cup circuit, which includes the World Championships in Rjukan, Norway in March. Erika Walters, also of Steamboat Springs will join Lorin on the “A” team and will work to balance the demands of college and of racing.

Discrete Signs First Freeheelers To Team

Salt Lake City-based headwear and apparel company Discrete recently signed three leading freeheel athletes to their brand. Tele gurus Eben Mond, Andy Jacobsen and Charlie Cannon will be joining 40+ skiers and riders as part of the 2010/2011 team.

Julian Carr, who founded Discrete in 2003, said he is excited to tighten the company’s bonds with the Tele world. “Discrete is so pumped on Tele skiing,” he said via email. “We love embracing this aspect of the sport. Mond, Jacobsen and Cannon have a wealth of collective experience as competitors and big mountain skiers, we are stoked to see what they bring for 2010/2011.”

With five inches of fresh fluff to start the day on Sock-It-To-Me Ridge, all the competitors had a shot at the top honors with great conditions.
